Participaron las ediles de Gobierno Abierto, Promoción Económica y Empleo de Murcia, Mercedes Bernabé, y de Mujer, Políticas de Conciliación, Mayores y Discapacidad, Ascensión Carreño; así como la concejal de Servicios Sociales de Las Torres de Cotillas, María Dolores Sánchez; la directora general de Personas con Discapacidad del IMAS, Miriam Pérez, y la presidenta de AFES, María Teresa Martínez.
La presidenta de la entidad destacó la trayectoria de AFES como una organización pionera que, desde su fundación, ha trabajado por la inclusión social, la defensa de derechos y el apoyo a las familias. “La felicitación es para toda la familia de AFES, por lo cual debo comenzar diciendo a todas estas personas: autoridades presentes, miembros representantes de asociaciones, nuestra federación, que también está representada, nuestros trabajadores, nuestros colaboradores… Esos son los que merecen un gran aplauso, porque nos están ayudando todos los días”, señaló.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="136738" img_size="full" onclick="link_image" css=""][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=""]Así, Martínez recordó los inicios de la asociación. “Hemos luchado arduamente: contra la indiferencia y contra la falta de recursos. Hemos trabajado para que la salud mental deje de ser un tabú, para que cada persona pueda ser escuchada, atendida y acompañada con dignidad, profesionalidad y humanidad”, apuntó, para reconocer que “hemos sido testigos de transformaciones importantes y avances en las políticas públicas, pero también somos conscientes de que aún queda mucho camino por recorrer”.
En este sentido, remarcó que las cifras de depresión, ansiedad y suicidio “son problemáticas que debemos abordar porque continúan en aumento. Las brechas de atención siguen siendo una realidad dolorosa, especialmente en la población más vulnerable”.
La presidenta de AFES manifestó su optimismo respecto al futuro y reafirmó el compromiso de la asociación con la salud mental. “Continuaremos trabajando como lo hemos hecho durante 45 años, con las puertas abiertas, la escucha activa y la convicción de que cada vida merece ser vivida con plenitud y acompañamiento”, concluyó.

Entre las actividades programadas, María Teresa Martínez destacó la celebración del XXIII Encuentro Regional de Familias de Asociaciones de Salud Mental, que congregará a representantes y familias de toda la Región de Murcia; una exposición artística, con obras realizadas por personas socias de AFES, así como diversas acciones culturales, divulgativas y de sensibilización en distintos municipios.
AFES, pieza clave del tejido social de Murcia
Con presencia en 22 municipios, entre los que se encuentra Murcia, AFES Salud Mental Murcia y Comarcas atiende actualmente a 394 personas beneficiarias directas, 381 familias y cuenta con una base social de 340 personas asociadas. La red de recursos incluye centros de día, viviendas tuteladas, residencia-hogar, centro de servicios integrales y un centro para la promoción de la autonomía personal.
Desde su fundación, ha atendido a más de 5.625 personas con problemas de salud mental y a 6.882 familias, consolidándose como un referente regional en atención psicosocial e integración comunitaria.
El Ayuntamiento de Murcia mantiene un compromiso firme con la entidad a través de colaboraciones institucionales, subvenciones y apoyo técnico, reforzando así su apuesta por una atención cercana, digna e inclusiva. “AFES representa una pieza clave del tejido social de Murcia”, destacó Mercedes Bernabé, quien añadió que “son más de cuatro décadas sosteniendo, cuidando y acompañando, convirtiendo el dolor en oportunidades, la exclusión en participación y el silencio en voz”.
Asimismo, Bernabé subrayó que la asociación es una parte activa y fundamental del Plan de Empleo y Promoción Económica del Ayuntamiento de Murcia. “Nos ayudáis a comprender cómo debemos enfocar el empleo desde el punto de vista de la salud mental y cómo debemos abordar y generar programas de empleabilidad para todas las personas.
