Carry out volunteer actions to improve people’s healthThe continued practice of solidarity not only helps the groups or causes it supports, but also provides both physical and mental benefits to the people who do it. On the one hand, it helps people lead a more active life, encourages them to move and interact with other people on a regular basis, and also improves self-esteem, trains and qualifies them for new tasks, encourages inclusion and makes them feel better.
For all this, Volunteering is a tool to promote people’s healthIt is an ASSET that must be taken into account by professionals in social and health centres and health promotion networks.
The Aragonese Volunteer Coordinator It is a non-profit entitywhose scope of action is the Aragonese Autonomous Community and which has its fines in the Promotion and defense of volunteeringIt currently includes 103 volunteer organisations that have a total of more than 22,000 volunteers, who serve more than 160,000 people belonging to groups at social risk, thanks to the collaboration of 122,517 social workers.
In addition, we have a inclusive volunteering project in which it provides an accompaniment service to people who need special support in their incorporation into voluntary action. The Coordinator also promotes awareness raising actions such as workshops and exhibitions, which could be carried out together with community health promotion networks and set up in health centres to promote the practice of volunteering.
At the Aragonese Volunteer Coordinator we firmly believe in designing programs based on reality, so we are willing to collaborate individually with interested health centers, drawing up the activity plan that best suits each one of them. These projects could include actions such as referring people to volunteer actions, disseminating volunteer offers, holding exhibitions or information meetings in the centers themselves, and others that we can specifically devise.
Volunteers create a better world, but volunteering also changes your world, which is certainly good for your health, it’s good for everything.
