Jornadas de Salud Comunitaria: Barrio de la Jota

The Community Health Day that took place last April 18 in the La Jota neighborhood is a clear exponent of the community and network work that is being carried out from the La Jota Health Center and especially from the group of Community Care.

The La Jota Health Center together with the Health Council has carried out a study to detect the needs and problems, as well as the strengths and positive assessments made by the neighbors, of the La Jota neighborhood and its surroundings. To carry out this study, nearly 800 surveys were carried out both on paper and by QR code.

The results of this study were presented to the entire community, both neighbors and representatives of the different neighborhood institutions, on this day. Which was also intended to be a meeting point that would serve both to make all actors visible and to exchange opinions and points of view about the problems detected after the analysis of the data obtained from the aforementioned study.

Based on the results of this survey, the following working groups were created:

Group 1: care of people and the environment.

    Group 2: loneliness.

Group 3: screens and new technologies

Group 4: sedentary lifestyle and obesity.

    Group 5: health education.

    Group 6: emotional well-being.

Group 7: associated problems in childhood-adolescence, impact of loneliness, obesity, sedentary lifestyle, screens, emotional well-being.

In all of them, work was done based on an established script and taking into account the strengths (very good evaluation of local businesses; many green areas; relationship between people; nearby services) that had been highlighted as an option to support the problems . detected. Concrete actions or projects were agreed upon to continue working in these areas.

It was a day that required a lot of prior work in which the entire La Jota Health Center participated and especially the Community Care group, the Health Council, the entities and residents, both adults, young people and children.

The new challenge now faced is to continue with the task of working collaboratively with all people and entities, to improve the health and well-being of the residents of the La Jota neighborhood.
