
Last Friday we celebrated, at the headquarters of the ONCE in Castilla y León, the closing ceremony of the eighth edition of our project “PasaXT Towards Employment”an initiative that we promote from the Castilla y León Mental Health Federation thanks to the support of ONCE FOUNDATION and co-financing from the European Union.
Once again, this program has proven to be a fundamental tool for accompany people with psychosocial disabilities in their access to the labor markethelping to break down barriers and generating new opportunities inclusion and professional development.
In this edition we have increased the number of participants compared to the previous year, reaching 36 people between 18 and 40 years old. For three months, we have developed an intense itinerary of orientation, training and support through nine entities of our associative movement spread throughout Castilla y León.
The results obtained reflect the commitment and effort of all the people involved. Throughout the program we have visited 51 companies and 58 community resourcesdone 17 job interviews and achieved, to date, 7 employment contracts.
The main novelty of this eighth edition has been the incorporation of a training specialty focused on personal mental health assistanceofficially accredited within the Catalog of Training Specialties of the State Public Employment Service (SEPE). This training represents an important advance by offering approved, quality training, aimed at an increasingly in-demand and specialized professional profile.
During the closing ceremony, our president Elena Briongos Rica wanted to recognize the effort made by the participants, highlighting that “We firmly believe in the talent and potential of people with mental health problems. When there is adequate support and the desire to move forward, the limits become much smaller.”
For its part, Araceli de las Heraspresident of the Territorial Council of ONCE in Castilla y Leónreaffirmed the organization’s commitment to equal opportunities and with real and effective labor inclusion.
A project with real impact
Since its launch, PasaXT Towards Employment has shown very positive results. 67% of the participating people have managed to improve their employabilityaccess a job or resume your studies. Besides, 24% have chosen to return to trainingn to expand their opportunities for socio-labor inclusion, while 43% continue to be immersed in active job search processes.
The day also allowed us to listen to the testimonies of Irene Perotti, participant of the programand of Enrique Santos, personal assistant, who shared their experience and valued the support and learning acquired during the process.

Likewise, we have the intervention of Marta Fernandez InfanteParalympic swimmer with six medals in Paralympic Games and Castilla y León Sports Awardwhose motivational talk left us with a valuable reflection on the importance of perseverance, personal improvement and confidence in one’s own abilities.
As a final touch, we presented the diplomas and symbolic “passports” to the students participating in the State FSE+ Youth Employment Programs and of Social Inclusion, Child Guarantee and Fight against Povertycoming from associations FAEMA Mental Health Ávila, Mental Health Burgos Prosame, Dawn Mental Health Segovia, Aranda Mental Health, Mental Health León (Ponferrada Delegation), Miranda Mental Health, Mental Health Palencia, Mental Health Salamanca and Zamora Mental Health.
With the closing of this eighth edition, together with Fundación ONCE we renew our commitment to continue offering a specialized intervention, coordinated and adapted to the current needs of the labor market. Because we believe in the potential of each person and we continue working to that employment is a reality accessible to all.
