XIX Congreso Internacional de nuestra sociedad

On April 14, 15 and 16, our XIX International Congress on Food, Nutrition and Dietetics was held in Madrid in in-person and distance modalities.

As usual, the congress is held together with the Practical Nutrition Conferences (this year in its XXX edition) in a university space such as the auditorium of the San Carlos Clinical Hospital, attached to the Complutense University of Madrid.

On this occasion, a special presence has been given to colleagues from Latin America through their own institutional roundtables in which they have presented their scientific work. We point out the one organized by the Ecuadorian association of nutritionists (day 14) and the expert panel of the Mexican College of Nutritionists (day 15) along with the communications presented by other colleagues from Peru in the special table of the magazine Clinical nutrition and hospital dietetics. We especially mention the closing conference by the Dr. Miguel Ángel Martínezprofessor at the University of Navarra, who gave a tour in his talk about the research of the PREDIMED study and its most notable conclusions in the field of the Mediterranean diet.

We point out that in 2026 the 40th anniversary of the founding of our society. At the congress the scientific level, as always, has been optimal (about 200 free communications presented) and the congressmen will be able to see and listen to the congress presentations again in the recordings that are available on the Web.

For this reason, it has been named honor society to one of the founders of SEDCA: the Dr. Paloma Tejero. Likewise, distinctions were awarded for scientific career and a lifetime dedicated to healthcare and science. Dr. Isabel Polanco (prominent researcher and clinician in the field of celiac disease) and Dr. Antonio Villarinocurrent president of SEDCA and also founder of the society since its origins. Finally, a special recognition was given to the most outstanding social worker who went to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society. with which we collaborate on different projects.
