ACCOMPANYING-T is a program of the Federation of Neighborhood and Cultural Associations of Teruel together with the Teruel City Council, aimed at the prevention, detection and intervention of situations of unwanted loneliness and social isolation, for the promotion of the autonomy of vulnerable people.
The main objective is to create a volunteer network that helps reduce unwanted feelings of loneliness and the social isolation of Teruel citizens, through social, emotional and leisure support. The aim is to individually accompany vulnerable people with the ultimate goal of integrating them into collective life.
This project aims to serve and care for people who suffer from unwanted loneliness and prevent physical, cognitive and social deterioration, promoting health that has been seriously affected during this pandemic, especially in the sector of the elderly and residents. . in rural environments, where the scarcity of existing resources has been seen more clearly.
In general terms, this project aims to:
- Reduce the number of people who live and die alone, without anyone accompanying them or notifying them of their absence.
- Achieve a greater quality of life and autonomy for vulnerable people, offering them social and emotional support.
- Integrate and revalue an aging and forgotten group that still has a lot to contribute to society.
- Manage to offer a complementary resource to institutions, which helps to cover existing needs more effectively.
