[post_content] => [vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_column_text css=""]Reconstruirse a través del arte: así fue como la autora Zoe Thorogood intentó recomponer su vida tras lidiar durante años con la ansiedad, la depresión y el síndrome del impostor. A través de la novela gráfica Se está muy sola en el centro de la Tierra, la autora narra seis meses en los que trata de abrirse camino en el mundo del cómic y comprenderse a sí misma. Tras sufrir el suicidio de su hermano el pasado mes de septiembre, Thorogood quiso destinar los beneficios de su venta a una organización dedicada a la salud mental. Gracias a este compromiso, la Confederación SALUD MENTAL ESPAÑA ha recibido una donación por parte de Norma Editorial.
Desde los catorce años, Thorogood empezó a lidiar con la depresión y las ideaciones suicidas. Su cómic, autobiográfico, satírico y nada autocomplaciente, narra con una mezcla de crudeza y humor sus emociones. Al comienzo del mismo, la autora advierte de que el libro “puede provocar emociones negativas” por lo que hay que leerlo en un lugar agradable y recordar que “el sol siempre sale todos los días”. La autora sostiene: “me es útil ponerle rostro a la depresión, y me gusta pensar que se ha convertido en un símbolo de concienciación y aceptación”.
James, el hermano de la autora, también comenzó a padecer problemas de salud mental a una temprana edad. Aunque, tal y como la propia Thorogood refleja en el libro, de pequeños tuvieran personalidades muy opuestas, su experiencia compartida les fue haciendo muy cercanos. “Supongo que como yo ya había pasado por eso una década antes pensó en hablar conmigo”, cuenta la novelista en una entrevista a The Guardian. Tras el suicidio de su hermano, la novelista decidió junto con su padre donar los beneficios de su obra a entidades de salud mental. “Coincidimos en que esto tenía que traer cosas buenas, por nuestro propio bien”, cuenta.
Una donación destinada a favorecer la salud mental de las mujeres rurales
La donación, realizada por Norma Editorial, se destinará al programa ‘Hub Genera, Faenando Futuro', que promueve la creación y el fortalecimiento del empleo y autoempleo de mujeres rurales con discapacidad psicosocial o problemas de salud mental. Este proyecto de SALUD MENTAL ESPAÑA está orientado a fomentar una cultura de emprendimiento cooperativo en el sector de los cuidados y la atención a las personas, en entornos rurales. El objetivo es crear, innovar, concentrar y dinamizar esfuerzos que permitan a estas mujeres desarrollarse profesionalmente dentro de su comunidad.
Algunas de las acciones del proyecto son el podcast "Relatoras de Futuros", el cortometraje documental "Relatoras de Vidas" y la recientemente inaugurada Red CREAS. Esta nueva red tiene como objetivo visibilizar a mujeres creadoras con experiencia propia en salud mental vinculadas al medio rural, promocionar sus trabajos y ser un espacio seguro para desarrollar proyectos en común. El pasado martes 17 de junio, tuvo lugar el primer encuentro online de intercambios creativos con mujeres inspiradoras, que contó con la experiencia de la veterinaria y escritora María Sánchez.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="137376" img_size="full" alignment="center" onclick="link_image" css=""][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=""]El programa Hub Genera es solo uno de los muchos proyectos que se desarrollan desde SALUD MENTAL ESPAÑA, una confederación que lleva desde 1983 con el objetivo de impulsar medidas que mejoren la calidad de vida de las personas con trastornos mentales y sus familias, defender sus derechos y representar al movimiento asociativo en el ámbito de la salud mental. Una misión que comparte la autora Thorogood, quien ha anunciado que mantendrá activa su campaña solidaria a escala internacional ya que "La salud mental está muy mal financiada y muy mal entendida".

Mental Health Spain receives a donation of Editorial Norma for the sales of the work ‘is very alone in the center of the Earth’
