The Zaragoza City Council, through the municipal company Zaragoza Deporte, launches RouteZ, a new mobile application to encourage the entire population to walk as a health care habit. The tool has been developed by the G2PM research group at the University of Zaragoza.
The app, which is now available on both IOS and Android, proposes the creation of routes throughout the city, taking advantage of the 22 itineraries marked for years by the Zaragozanda municipal program. These peri-urban routes allow you to get to know the city on foot, on routes that run through both the urban area and the natural environment that surrounds Zaragoza.
Now the new app RouteZ It poses gamified challenges as an incentive to travel these routes and has a system that allows physical activity to be monitored and recorded.
RouteZ will periodically launch different challenges along these itineraries, allowing its users to participate in raffles and obtain rewards, thanks to the collaboration with different entities and organizations in the city that, from the beginning, have opted to support this new application of the Zaragoza City Council.
Thus, the objective of this application is to provide service to all citizens, from individuals who want to walk to stay in shape, to families who want to do an outdoor activity or associations and groups that are encouraged to participate in some of the challenges. . that will be proposed to support causes of common interest for the city.
Besides, RouteZ makes a special nod to the educational centers of Zaragoza, since it incorporates specific challenges for the Primary and Secondary stages where, in addition to walking around the city, different activities can be carried out thanks to an educational program called Walk & Learn.
A catalog of educational activities has been developed with the support of the Faculty of Education of the University of Zaragoza, linked to the educational curriculum of the Government of Aragon, which will be available to teachers.
