El pasado 22 de enero se inauguró oficialmente el Servicio Prelaboral Xamba, un nuevo recurso dirigido a personas con problemas de salud mental que quieren adquirir herramientas, confianza y capacidades para acceder al mercado laboral. El servicio, que se puso en marcha en la segunda mitad de 2025, es una iniciativa conjunta de Salut Mental Catalunya y Salut Mental Sabadell y se enmarca en la estrategia de acción comunitaria de ambas entidades para romper el aislamiento, fomentar el bienestar emocional y mejorar las oportunidades de inserción sociolaboral.
Un proyecto que pone las personas en el centro
Durante la bienvenida institucional, Margarita Esplugues, presidenta de Salut Mental Sabadell, subrayó el carácter transformador del nuevo servicio: “Este servicio no es solo un espacio de formación y orientación laboral. Es un espacio de acompañamiento, aprendizaje, recuperación de la confianza y construcción de proyectos vitales”.
Destacó además el trabajo conjunto con Salut Mental Catalunya y el apoyo del Ayuntamiento de Sabadell, especialmente del área de Promoción Económica, remarcando que las políticas sociales y de desarrollo económico deben ir de la mano.
Desde Salut Mental Sabadell se reafirmó el compromiso con la salud mental como derecho fundamental, así como con la creación de recursos que generen oportunidades reales y combatan el estigma.
“El acceso a un empleo digno es clave para el bienestar y la inclusión social”
A continuación, Mercè Torrentallé, presidenta de Salut Mental Catalunya —quien participó de forma virtual— destacó la importancia de garantizar el derecho de las personas con problemas de salud mental al acceso a un empleo con los apoyos necesarios.

Torrentallé también valoró el trabajo del tejido asociativo y la colaboración entre entidades y administraciones, enfatizando que este servicio, único en Sabadell, supone un paso imprescindible para garantizar la igualdad de oportunidades.Formación práctica e itinerarios personalizados
El Servicio Prelaboral Xamba ofrece formación práctica orientada a las demandas reales del mercado laboral en diferentes ámbitos, como:
· Mantenimiento de espacios verdes y horticultura
· Mantenimiento y reparación de bicicletas y vehículos ligeros
· Administración aplicada al audiovisual
· Cocina y hostelería
Además, el servicio incluye formación transversal, orientación sociolaboral y conocimiento del entorno de trabajo. Cada persona participante cuenta con un programa individualizado, diseñado junto con el equipo profesional para adaptarse a sus necesidades, intereses y ritmo, con el objetivo de acompañarla hacia una vida laboral activa, significativa e integrada en la comunidad.

Salut Mental Catalunya and Salut Mental Sabadell inaugurate the Xamba Pre-employment Service
Both entities are launching a new resource that combines training, guidance and personalized support to prepare people with mental health problems for the world of work.
On January 22, the Xamba Pre-employment Service, a new resource aimed at people with mental health problems who want to acquire tools, confidence and skills to access the labor market. The service, which was launched in the second half of 2025, is a joint initiative of Mental Health Catalonia and Mental Health Sabadell and is part of the community action strategy of both entities to break isolation, promote emotional well-being and improve opportunities for socio-labor insertion.

A project that puts people at the center.
During the institutional welcome, Margarita Espluguespresident of Salut Mental Sabadell, highlighted the transformative nature of the new service: «This service is not only a space for training and career guidance. It is a space for support, learning, recovery of confidence and construction of vital projects.»
He also highlighted the joint work with Salut Mental Catalunya and the support of the Sabadell City Council, especially from the Economic Promotion area, highlighting that social and economic development policies must go hand in hand.
Salut Mental Sabadell reaffirmed its commitment to mental health as a fundamental right, as well as to the creation of resources that generate real opportunities and combat stigma.

Torrentalé also valued the work of the associative network and the collaboration between entities and administrations, emphasizing that this service, unique in Sabadell, represents a essential step to guarantee equal opportunities.
Practical training and personalized itineraries.
The Xamba Pre-employment Service offers practical training aimed at the real demands of the labor market in different areas, such as:
· Maintenance of green spaces and horticulture
· Maintenance and repair of bicycles and light vehicles.

· Kitchen and hospitality
In addition, the service includes transversal training, socio-occupational orientation and knowledge of the work environment.
