
Geneva, May 28, 2025 – Seventy and eighth World Health Assembly (Wha78), the annual meeting of the Member States of the World Health Organization (WHO), came to an end on Tuesday, since health leaders praised vast achievements and global solidarity.
The Assembly, the highest decision -making body, was convened from May 19 to May 27, under the theme «A world for health». The Assembly adopted other resolutions on digital health, the workforce of health and care, medical images, nursing and prying, sensory disability and skin diseases, among others. Two new WHO official health campaigns were established: World Cervical Cancer Elimination Day and World Premature Day.
Strengthen health emergency preparation and response
The World Health Assembly also discussed who works in health emergencies. During the last year, WHO responded internationally to 51 emergencies graduated from 89 countries and territories, including global sprouts of cholera and Mpox, an emergency of public health of international concern, as well as multiple humanitarian crises.
