The Almonacid de la Sierra music band was founded in 1914. It is made up of musicians of different ages (from 8 years old for the youngest person to 80 years old for the oldest person) and is characterized by its ability to adapt to the social reality of each moment.
Currently, the band is a non-profit entity that constitutes an important cultural and energizing element Township.
It is in continuous growth thanks to the training of new musicians through individual instrument and musical language classes, promoting citizen and youth participation in the cultural activity of Almonacid de la Sierra.
In order to confront the phenomenon of depopulation that is present in many of the surrounding municipalities, ties have been created with music bands or independent musicians from neighboring municipalities that culturally and artistically enrich the project by providing them with greater diversity, thus favoring the dialogue and exchange between different municipalities. Currently, musicians from other towns in the Sierra de Algairén such as La Almunia de Doña Godina, Alpartir, Cosuenda and Aguarón come to rehearse in Almonacid de la Sierra.
However, we face new challenges. When analyzing the sociodemographic structure of Almonacid de la Sierra, it can be observed that not all social groups are present in the music band. According to data from the Aragonese Institute of Statistics (IAEST), as of January 1, 2022, 25% of the population was foreign. Furthermore, although we do not have data by age range, if we take into account the high level of aging of the native population, it is reasonable to think that the percentage of foreign children and young people is even higher.
The Almonacid de la Sierra Musical Group has set itself the objective of achieving the sociocultural integration of the immigrant collective of Almonacid de la Sierra through our music band. This action will be carried out through a win-win strategy in which both said group and the music band itself will win.

Besides, music is a healthy leisureIt allows a use of time away from mobile devices and tablets, which are present in current educational debates.
Using musical learning as a mechanism for social integration and facilitator of intercultural dialogue It is an idea that has been applied in other scenarios with spectacular results. Among them, we would like to highlight the following: El Sistema, West-Eastern Divan Orchestra.
From the Group we are in coordination with the Public School and specifically with the music teacher, Inmaculada Jordán. An educational concert and dissemination work were held. So far the initiative has been a success, incorporating 44 of the 50 students from the Almonacid de la Sierra school. 56% of those registered belong to the immigrant group. Of them, 19 are 8 years old or older and of these 19, 15 are of foreign origin.
