Washington DC, October 30, 2023 (PAHO) – The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) today commemorated the 20 years of operation of its Virtual Public Health Campus (CVSP), highlighting its fundamental contribution to the development of virtual health education, which today exceeds 2.5 million users.
“When we look back in time, to the year 2003, and remember the launch of this pioneering platform, we not only see a technological tool, but the birth of a vision,” said PAHO Director Dr. Jarbas Barbosa during the event. commemoration for 20 years of the Virtual Campus.
With users from 225 countries and territories around the world, the CVSP has proven to be a strategic tool for technical cooperation, allowing for the rapid and direct training of health workers. During the pandemic, he played a central role in providing essential information to health teams throughout the Americas region.
Offering a wide variety of courses on various health topics, the PAHO Director highlighted that this virtual platform “has gone from being a useful online tool to being able to become an online university with internationally recognized microcertifications.” .
“In this era of digital transformation, technology and connectivity are changing the way we live, work and learn. In this context, the Virtual Campus commemorates its 20 years of bringing knowledge to practice by promoting health workers trained and available to develop resilient health services,” added Dr. Barbosa.
All CVSP courses are free and open access, and are offered in Spanish, French, English and Portuguese, the four official languages of PAHO.
Launch of the CVSP APP
During the commemoration event, the launch of the new Virtual Campus APP was also carried out, which will allow users to access this platform from any device, anywhere and at any time.
Likewise, it will facilitate the option of downloading resources and materials to access them without the need to be connected to an Internet network.
«This new APP marks a milestone in our mission to bring PAHO knowledge to those who need it, offering unprecedented flexibility and accessibility for public health education,» highlighted the Director of the PAHO Department of Health Systems and Services. , James Fitzgerald.
